Mancao assured of utmost security

05/27/2009

Former police Senior Supt. Cesar Mancao II will be provided with utmost security upon his much-awaited return to the country.

Justice Secretary Raul Gonzalez made the assurance yesterday following the deposition made by Mancao in the United States federal court regarding the petition for habeas corpus filed by former police Senior Supt. Michael Ray Aquino.

Mancao, Aquino and former police Senior Supt. Glenn Dumlao are prime suspects in the Dacer-Corbito double murder case.

The DOJ chief pointed out Mancao has no other demands in so far as his willingness to testify in the Dacer-Corbito case is concerned.

His only concern, according to Gonzalez, is his safety and security. Hence, he will be placed under the protective custody of the National Bureau of Investigation.

Once in the country, Mancao will again be placed under a preliminary investigation in connection with the double murder case.

The expected extradition of Dumlao and Mancao to the Philippines last March 22 and March 29, respectively, did not materialize because of the petition filed by Aquino in the US federal court for Dumlao and Mancao to testify in his behalf.

Mancao had executed an affidavit alluding to Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson as the “mastermind” in the abduction and slaying of publicist Salvador “Bubby” Dacer and his driver Emmanuel Corbito in November 2000.
